Former minister and BJP leader V Somanna on Thursday said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is behind the government's initiative of taking control of Hindu religious institutions. The government lacks general knowledge and is a 'Huchchara Sarkara', he charged.

Addressing media persons, here, Somanna said the chief minister is trying to disturb peace when the elections are nearing. "He is turning out to be a villain (Khalnayak) for the state. Let him publicly announce, who is behind the thought of taking over Hindu religious institutions," he challenged.

With only a couple of months left for the polls, he is trying to lure Christian and Muslim voters. He is also trying to divert the attention of the people of the state when the poll code of conduct becomes effective, he alleged.

BJP convention

The second phase of the BJP convention to organise party workers will begin from Sakleshpur on February 9.

With the party workers enthusiastic after the successful completion of the Parivarthana rally, B S Yeddyurappa will launch the convention at Sakleshpur. The party will, at any cost, achieve the Mission 150. BJP is confident of opening its account in Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts, he said.
