A 26-year-old man plunged to death from the terrace of a five-storey paying guest accommodation on Saturday.

Rishab Shukla had been working for an IT firm in Jigani for the past two months and lived in a paying guest accommodation at  Doddathoguru in Electronics City.

Shukla, a native of Nagpur in Maharashtra, used to stay on the fifth floor.

On Saturday morning, he went straight up to the terrace and jumped to his death, the police said.

Passersby found him lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police. The Electronics City police have shifted the body to hospital for post-mortem.

According to his  family, Shukla was suffering from kidney aliments and was depressed.

Shukla reportedly spoke to his sister on Friday night about what was bothering him, the police said.

"He may have been depressed over his illness and taken the extreme step," a police officer said.
