A 36-year-old woman was killed while three others sustained injuries when a car got on to the pavement and knocked down at least four vendors in Jeevanbhima Nagar on Tuesday morning.
The accident happened when Ruby Sharma was on her way to office at Bagmane Tech Park around 8.45 am, said the police. Ruby pressed accelerator instead of the clutch while negotiating a turn on Rama Temple Road in New Thippasandra. As a result, the car moved on the pavement hitting vendors. Kokila, a flower vendor, and three others were injured, added the police.
Kokila was taken to Manipal hospital where she succumbed to injuries. The three others were admitted at Chinmaya Mission Hospital in Indiranagar. The JB Nagar traffic police detained Ruby and registered a case of accidental death due to rash and negligent driving.
