Delhi bureaucrats continue protest against Kejriwal

Bureaucrats in Delhi government are in no mood to compromise with Arvind Kejriwal-led dispensation till the Chief Minister apologises for the assault of Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.

The senior bureaucrats and other officials said they continue to boycott meetings called by Kejriwal and his cabinet colleagues till they get an apology from the chief minister. The officials had announced the boycott on Wednesday.

In a meeting on Thursday, around 200 officers decided that no official would attend meetings called by the chief minister and his ministers.

Officers from the IAS, DANICS (Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service) and DSSS (Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board) associations discussed the next course of action. In the meeting, all associations were on the same page on the protest, as they are feeling "unsafe".

A coordination committee comprising representatives of all associations have been formed and it was decided to continue peaceful protest against alleged assault of Prakash and work only through formal channels of communication, a statement said.

Prakash had alleged assault by two AAP MLAs Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal, who were arrested and sent to judicial custody. In a report to Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal gave detailed narration of the incident and quipped that there is a breakdown in relationship between the political leadership and bureaucracy.

AAP protested outside the Union Home Minister's residence saying Delhi Police has not taken any action in the complaints filed by their MLAs.
