Silver jubilee of Milli Council held

Last Updated 25 February 2018, 18:02 IST

A public function on 'Save Constitution and Build Nation' was held at Meelad Bagh in the city on Sunday to mark the silver jubilee celebrations and general body meeting of All India Milli Council (AIMC).

In 1992, AIMC was constituted in Mysuru, hence, it was decided to celebrate the silver jubilee in the city. Different sessions of students, women, traders and advocates were held at Siddiqia Arabic College and Hotel Regenta over three days.

The council was constituted in Mysuru 25 years ago due to the deterioration in communal harmony, Abdulla Mughaisi, president of AIMC said. "We always struggle for communal harmony and peace in the country. "In future also we will fight against communal forces and will work for women and the downtrodden. Some vested interests are trying to change the Constitution but we will not allow anybody to change it. If our Constitution is safe, automatically our country will be safe," he said.

Dr Manzool Alam, general secretary of AIMC, said that without the Constitution, no nation will be safe and will not survive. "After India's independence, B R Ambedkar took stock of the situation and compiled the Constitution. Now, some communal forces are trying to change it. Just a glance at the last Budget, presented by the Central government, reveals that importance is not given to education, software, new techniques, and financial stability. It has been presented to empower some three to four people. That is not a healthy sign. If anybody tries to change the Constitution, we will fight against the communal forces with the help of other like-minded people," he said.

Education Minister Tanveer Sait, Syed Mustafa Rifayee, Syed Shahid Ahmed, general secretary of AIMC, Karnataka unit, Sulaiman Khan, vice president of AIMC-Karnataka, Mohamed Zaka Ulla Saheb Siddiqui, president of AIMC-Mysuru, K C Shoukath Pasha, general secretary, Mohamed Naseem Saheb Rishadi, Ibrahim, Qari Fayaz Ahmed, Ariff A Mehkri, Chairman of District Waqf Advisory Committee, Syed Akram Pasha, were present.
