City Police Commissioner T R Suresh warned that FIR would be registered against those who install flexes, banners and buntings in City Police Commissionerate's jurisdiction illegally.

In a phone-in programme here on Friday, a caller from Mulki informed the police commissioner that illegal flexes are causing inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians at Mulki and made an appeal to ban the use of flexes.

In reply, the police commissioner said the deputy commissioner has served notices to heads of all the urban local bodies and gram panchayats to clear the unauthorised flexes, banners and buntings.

The DC has also directed them to file an FIR against those who install flexes, banners and buntings without obtaining permission from the authorities, he said.

Based on a complaint given by the Mangaluru City Corporation officials on the unauthorised flexes, the police have already filed three FIRs, he added.

A majority of callers complained against private bus drivers and conductors. A caller said that a few private buses cut their trips to Athrebail.

Another caller said that buses do not operate in Maroli during the afternoon. There are permits for four buses to Kodikal. But the buses do not operate after 8 pm. Some buses collect extra amount for the ticket while a few use harsh horns, the caller complained to the top cop.

The height of the footboard in the buses operating to Sasihithlu is causing inconvenience to the physically challenged, children and senior citizens, said a physically challenged woman.

The police commissioner directed Inspector Kumaraswamy to inspect the buses and ask them to rectify if there are any loopholes.
