A day after her alleged abduction and assault in a car from East Bengaluru's Kasavanahalli Road, the 28-year-old woman teacher has reportedly refused to give a statement to the jurisdictional Whitefield police.

Police suspect her mother is holding back information she knows about the teacher for some reasons.

"When the two women refused to give a statement, we gave (the victim) a pen and a piece of paper, asking her not to write it as a complaint but whatever had happened to her so that it'd help our investigation," a senior police officer said.

On Sunday night, police had registered an FIR on the woman's abduction and assault based on a complaint by a passerby.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the woman quarrelled with her mother at the latter's flat in Parappana Agrahara and stormed out Sunday evening. Her mother asked the security guard to stop her, which he could not manage.

The woman went to a nearby medical shop and demanded a painkiller, which she was refused since she had no prescription. She jumped over the counter and grabbed some medicine from the cabinet. The shopkeeper's wife and a helper overpowered her and snatched the medicine from her. She then left for Sarjapur.

Police said the abduction had occurred then as described by some passersby.

The woman claimed she was left abandoned in an unconscious state near Kasavanahalli on Monday morning. She was admitted to St John's Hospital in Koramangala where doctors said she had walked in on her own.

But on Tuesday, doctors grew silent over the woman's condition following her request to keep her health status confidential.

The bewildered police are now checking the CCTV footage of Kasavanahalli to glean clues on the car used in the alleged abduction.
