Through the streets of Asia and Europe

Last Updated 23 March 2018, 12:42 IST

Located in the quaint lane off Kammanahalli main road, 'OKI' serves some of the most contemporary cuisines inspired by the Asian and European delicacies.

The cosy yet brightly lit ambience is an instant attraction as you step in. The bamboo barricades, little bookshelves, the wooden furniture and the indoor plants give the restaurant a homely feel. One can also find small blackboard menus that basically gives a hint of what's on the menu.

Coming to the food, Chef Surajit Ghara, the owner, has planned the menu in a careful manner. Combining the exotic flavours of Asia and Europe, Surajit aims to give his customers a pleasant experience in whatever they order for.

If you are heading to this place after a long day at work, a strong cup of cappuccino is definitely a good start to your meal. However, if you want to have something cooler, try the 'Blueberry Martini' - it is refreshing and perfect for a summer drink.

While you sip on your drinks, take your time to go through the menu and choose what will suit your palate the best. The menu is divided into 'small eats', 'meal in itself', 'hearty choice' and 'something sweet'. Each of which has a wide range of options to look forward to.

Ask for a plate of 'Crispy Lotus roots, Water Chestnuts and Bamboo Shoots'. The crispy-crunchy fritters starter was something unique to taste. The strong flavour of crushed pepper added to the subtle taste of the dish.

You can also order a plate of 'Taiwanese Gua Bao Chicken with Pickled Greens'. The bao was extremely soft and the pickled greens complemented the spicy chicken. It wasn't messy and easy to eat. The chicken piece could have been a little bigger (by the time you actually start to enjoy it, it's almost over). 'Char Sui Chicken with Freshly Pickled Cucumber', 'Char Grilled Chicken with Chilli and Basil Crumbs' and 'Thai Spiced Grilled Chicken with Tangy Papaya Salad' are some of the other starters you can try too.

If you want to stick to your vegetarian diet, some of the must-have starters are 'Zucchini Corn and Feta Fritters' served with Salad Greens and Roasted Garlic Chipotle Mayo'. Though it was a bit bland, the dressy veggies stole the show.

'Stuffed Mushrooms with Spinach Ricotta' is another dish that should be on your list. True to its name, the spinach is cooked and mashed to perfection. The mild spices of the spinach filling just add to the taste.

You can also try the 'Phad Krapao with Jasmine Rice'. The sticky rice complements the smoky chicken taste. Though it might look heavy, it's quite light on your stomach. End your meal with the carefully crafted desserts. 'Oreo cheesecake with berry compote and shaved chocolate', is a lifesaver. It is not so sweet, so it is perfect for people who don't have a sweet tooth. One can also try the 'Basil Pannacotta with Zesty Orange Syrup and Pomegranate'

'OKI' is located at 403, Mariappa Road, off Kammanahalli Main Road, near Sena Vihar, Kammanahalli.
