Car thieves arrested, five cars seized

The City Crime Branch and Mulki police station personnel arrested a gang of car thieves and seized cars valued at Rs 50 lakh.

According to City Police Commissioner T R Suresh, the arrested are Fayaz of Hosapete in Ballari, Rohan Shailesh D'Souza of Ullal, David Clinton of Rayi in Bantwal and Eesa Roshan of Valencia in Mangaluru.

The arrests were carried out based on an information about the gang's presence in the Mulki police station limits.

During checking of vehicles at Mulki Bappanadu check post earlier this month, the police had arrested Fayaz, who was found driving a car that was reportedly stolen from Ullal police station limits .

Based on the information provided by Fayaz, police arrested the other accused at Mukka in Surathkal police station limits and seized four cars which were stolen by them.

In fact, Fayaz of Ballari was part of a fake RC racket operated by Kukkaje Abubakkar Sadiq.

Cases of cheating have been registered against the three other accused in Ullal and Panambur police stations.

The City Police Commissioner has lauded the operation carried out by police inspector Ananthapadmanabha of Mulki police station and Shantharam of City Crime Branch with their respective teams, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners of Police Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth.
