While 2017 was all about surrealism, careful mess and minimalism in bedroom styles; 2018 has brought back mid-century designs and comfort. This season, it's all about going back to the basics but with a twist. Here, are five trends that are in vogue now.

Balance of styles

Statement pieces and glamorous themes are in this season along with simple designs. There is something for everyone. Oversized headboards are in if you're going for a luxurious look, and if space is an issue you can always choose the loft-inspired look which is easy on the pocket.

Fusion of cultures

Inspiration from cultures across the world is a trend that's here to stay. Decor incorporating elements from Japan and Scandinavia is popular in the bedroom space as well. These styles call for neutral palettes with small accents in bright tones, bringing in energy and providing a contemporary look and feel.

Small is beautiful

The tatami style beds are a rage this year, these low lying beds come with an embedded mattress. They are simple and helps one create an illusion of space in the bedroom.

Retro is in

The 60s and 70s have made a comeback in the home decor space. The bedrooms today have furniture from these eras in accent colours. Old lamps, wallpapers and artefacts are being used in contemporary settings, thereby blending in different times.

Go basic

It's imperative that you have the right and comfortable bedding, in order to achieve that invest in quality cotton sheets in vibrant prints which are in vogue. This will rejuvenate the room, make it summery and ensure that you have a good sleep.
