When it comes to nightlife in the City, the options aren’t too many. Taking advantage of this was the Don and Diva event, organised at the Hint located in a City mall. It was one of those rare nights, when the denizens of the City truly let their hair down to the hip beats of Bollywood music churned out by celebrity DJs Akbar Sami and Hussain.

Even with the early deadline for nightlife in the City, that prove to be a bane for party-goers, they did not compromise on making a fashionably late entry.

Especially the DJ, Akbar Sami, who walked in more than an hour late. By the time, the house was choc-a-bloc with revellers.

The DJ duo then took the party to new levels by mixing popular Bollywood music with snazzy Western beats, and soon there. Surprisingly, DJ Akbar Sami, was a
choreographer at a club, and one day when the in-house DJ of the club didn't turn up, he was told to take control of the turn table. And the rest is history.

His list of remixes that hit the club each day are endless, Garam Masala, 36 China Town, Aksar, Aashiq Banaya Aapne and Gangster to name a few, but it was the remix
album Jalwa and Jalwa 2 that propelled him into fame. With about two decades into the business, Akbar is now turning into a music director himself for the film Fast Forward, for Akbar, it’s just taking his music to the next level, “I am happy my work go noticed with so many of my songs going on to becoming chartbusters after being remixed. Fast Forward is a musical and I have composed the track according to the movie's script,” he says.

Fast forwarding into future, what’s next in Akbar’s line? “More music composing and my next film is Bombay Mast Kalandar. I just cut an album Jalwa 2008 recently, the third in my Jalwa series of album.”Back to the party, there’s barely enough time for the clock to strike 11, but the party seems to have just begun.     The DJs charm the crowd with witty interactions and play special requests.

They also play their enormously popular tracks like Gabbar mix, and Don mix. And the party starved crowd lapped it all up. But unfortunately like all good things, the night came to an end, and the crowd leaves reluctantly satisfied with DJ Akbar’s promise to be back again.
