Last Updated 26 June 2010, 17:00 IST

The Robert Bosch Art Grant is a part of a three pronged plan of the Bosch foundation, which also involves improving literacy levels through workshops and healthy dialogues between communities.

The ten recipients were chosen from over 70 applications. One of the awardees, the Attakkalari Dance Institute had Jay Chandran Palazhy as a representative, who said: “True art unifies the mind, body and spirit making us all equals on this grand stage. With the money won I plan to push the Attakkalari Dance Institute to scale new heights by recruiting raw talent and sculpting them into professionals.”

Another awardee, Raghu A Wodeyar said : “Art is a precarious and challenging occupation where we always are judged, making us vulnerable. Therefore the money awarded will not only serve as an incentive for me to work harder but also a security that would allow me to rid myself of the day to demands of living and concentrate completely on art.”
