Film screenings in pubs seem to be the in-thing these days if one is to go by the recent trends with pub owners and film distributors coming together to offer films to customers at major openings across the country. The brain behind this new ‘film pub screening’ venture is none other than NDTV Lumiere.

“NDTV Lumiere screens contemporary movies every alternative week at Lodi and Tabula Rasa in New Delhi, Pebbles in Bangalore, Roxy in Kolkata, Soul in Pune, Loungefly in Goa and Zenzi in Mumbai,” NDTV Business head Dhruvank Vaidya told Sunday Herald.  World Cinema has now grown to a great extent and attracts a lot of evolved audiences, therefore the need for varied ways of watching World Cinema, he added. So far, NDTV Lumiere has screened over 25 foreign films across lounges and pubs in India.

What used to be a niche interest with less demand and lesser supply, with the help of film club screenings at traditional mandals has now become ‘happening’ for youngsters. Good films are raining down on world cinema fans and it’s indeed a blessing in return for all those ‘dry’ years.
