The train, which was on its way to Islampur from Buxar, was stopped midway at Fatuha station on platform No 6. An announcement was then made by the railway officials that the train won’t go further to Islampur. The public broadcast infuriated the passengers who mercilessly thrashed driver Nagendra Singh and the co-driver Hemant Kumar, and forced the duo to take the train to Islampur, signal or no signal.

Before the railway mandarins at Fatuha could react and seek additional reinforcement of GRP and Rapid Action Force from adjoining DRM office at Danapur, the train had left for Islampur.

Immediately, a strong contingent of RPF was rushed in. It was a dramatic scene. While the police were chasing the train, the driver of the train, out of fear of further thrashing, was not prepared to stop it. Eventually, the police overpowered the train at Hilsa station.

Railway SP Vivek Kumar Singh said that the Fatuha station master delayed in informing the police, “or else we could have averted such an incident.” An FIR was lodged against unknown persons. Commandant of Danapur Railway Division Pranav Kumar said he had taken the matter seriously.
