Bihar doctor's son found in Haryana

Last Updated 14 June 2009, 16:51 IST

The abductors had demanded Rs 50 lakh as ransom for his safe release.

Rajinder Singh Bhatti, IG, Muzaffarpur Zone, who himself camped in Delhi to monitor the situation, got the breakthrough when Bihar cops, acting on a tip-off, raided a house on Delhi-Haryana road in Yamunanagar district and recovered the boy.

Seven-year-old Rhitik was kidnapped from Muzaffarpur on May 26 and kept in captivity in the house of Binod Sahni.

Binod is the relative of the kingpin of kidnappers Munna Sahni, who was arrested recently.

Five other members of the gang have also been apprehended.

Police investigations found that compounder of Dr Sudhir Kumar had connived with the kidnappers’ gang for Rhitik’s abduction. He was eventually arrested.

Muzaffarpur SP Sudhanshu Kumar, while confirming the boy’s recovery, said that no ransom was paid to the abductors.

The Muzaffarpur unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which had threatened to paralyse the medical services if Rhitik was not recovered, has thanked the Bihar police for the boy’s safe recovery.
