With various participants displaying exceptional talent in arranging fresh flowers and moulding vegetables to their imagination, Justice Reddy said he could help but appreciate their talent. “It shows the innate ability of people to do creative things,” he said.

Compared to previous years, the number of participants has doubled this year. Officials said while 427 entries were received last year, this year saw 670 entries. Another highlight is the three flower varieties –– asiatic lily, anthurium and green colour heliconias –– used for flower arrangement.

Bedazzled

Not only the High Court judge, even visitors were bedazzled by the intricate and beautiful flower arrangements and vegetable carvings.

Sister Lily, who has been regularly coming for the show for the last five years, said while the flower arrangements were more or less similar to what she saw last year, it was nonetheless a feast for the eyes this year. “Every year there is something new to see. It’s really very innovative. I particularly liked the husband and wife pair made out of different vegetables and the Gauri Eshwara vegetable carving,” said Prathiba Chandrashekhar, who said she had been attending the show at Lalbagh for the last 20 years.
