Chargesheet against ex medical officer of NIMHANS in DA case

The chargesheet was filed against former senior General Duty Medical officer, NIMHANS, Madiwala, Bangalore and her father in a special CBI court here for alleged possession of assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

According to the agency, the former NIMHANS official Manjula Rao and her father T S Shankara Narayana Rao were arrested on June 9, 2009, under different Sections of IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly possessing wealth worth Rs 1.81 crore.

"The allegations as per the chargesheet were that the accused public servant while working as Sr General Duty Medical Officer, NIMHANS, during the period from March 1, 2003 to March 23, 2009, had acquired assets which were disproportionate to her known sources of income to the extent of Rs 1.81 crore.

"The father of the public servant who had no independent sources of income and who was totally dependent on his children, knowing fully well that he had no means to acquire the properties worth Rs 30.35 lakh had abetted his daughter to purchase the said properties by her ill-gotten money in his name and thereby committing the offences," CBI spokesperson Harsh Bhal said.
