Notice put up before Madani's camp asking to eject outsiders

The notice, signed by Thehesildar of Kunnathur taluk, asked the orphanage authorities to fully comply with the prohibitory orders under IPC 144 in force in the area since yesterday.
According to official sources, the notice was posted at the gate of the orphanage complex, where Madani is camping, after its authorities refused to receive it by hand.

Meanwhile,state Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan maintained that it was for the Karnataka police to decide on when to arrest of Madani and that the state police's role in the process was that of a facilitator.

"The arrest warrant is with the Karnataka police. The Karnataka police have to execute it and the Kerala police will extend all help", Balakrishnan told reporters in Kozhikode.

Meanwhile,a delegation of office-bearers of some of the Muslim organisations called on Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan in the state capital seeking his intervention to ensure humanitarian consideration for Madani.

However, according to reliable sources, the Chief Minister declined to make an firm commitment to the delegation on the issue.

Prohibitory orders were imposed in Mainagappally and Sasthamcotta panchayats warning against grouping of five or more people.

A heavy contingent of police, including the personnel of the Special Armed Battalion, had been deployed in the area since yesterday to meet the situation arising out of the arrest of Madani.

A team of Karnataka police under CI N H Siddappa had been camping in the district since last week for the arrest of Madani after rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by the Karnatka High Court.
