The credit for the miraculous progress that the school witnessed goes to its teacher Venkataramanappa who has won the best teacher award at the district level thrice.

The 30-year-old acclaimed but modest teacher from Jagadenahalli, worked as stenographer in a private company in Shimoga till he was appointed as teacher in 1997.
He began his service at the Mundanakoppa in Tirthahalli taluk of Shimoga district. Later, he worked at Varadenahalli school in Devanahalli taluk till he was transferred to Nambiganahalli in 2002.

When he reported for the duty, the school was surrounded with huge rocks and there were drainages but not roads connecting villages to the school.

The villagers were not enthusiastic about sending their wards to the school which seemed not so conducive for learning.

Venkataramanappa had to put relentless and sustaining efforts to bring change in phased manner. The first thing he did was to make the school look attractive to students.

Starting point

He began it by educating the villagers about need of keeping their surroundings clean. As a result, the drainages which surrounded the school vanished.

Venkataramanappa took the residents  of Nambiganahalli village into confidence and with their co-operation he cleared the rocks one by one and laid the road.

He roped in the donors to give students tie, belt and shoes for the students who look smart and tidy now.

With the generous contribution of the donors, Venkataramanappacould get a water filter.

Facilities

Further the school has now infrastructural facilities, including chairs for teachers and cupboards to keep the documents. The school has now two teachers, 40 students and four classrooms.

Sitting under the sloping roof erected to ensure shade for the students, the villagers with pride commend Venkataramanappa who brought not only change and made learning a fun, but also laurels to the school.
