New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will spearhead the party's Lok Sabha campaign in Gandhi family pocket boroughs Raebareli and Amethi by camping there till the election campaign is over.

The party also deputed former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as the senior observer for Raebareli from where Rahul Gandhi is contesting while former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will be senior observer in Amethi where family loyalist Kishori Lal Sharma will be contesting.

Sources said Priyanka returned to Raebareli on Monday, three days after Rahul and Sharma filed their nominations, and now will be camping there, sources said. She will hold a large number of corner meetings and door-to-door campaigns.

A close aide said Priyanka would be handling all aspects of the campaign and electioneering from booth management to outreach programmes, including social media and digital campaigns. An initial plan shared by sources showed that she will visit around 300 villages while giving equal time to both the seats.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other top leaders are expected to campaign in both the seats, they said.
