<p>Airtel, earlier in the month, conducted a live demo of 5G connectivity in Hyderabad. Now, the company has announced to partner with US-based technology major Qualcomm to scale 5G cellular network across India.</p>.<p>Airtel will use Qualcomm's 5G RAN (Radio Access Network) platforms to roll-out virtualized and Open RAN-based 5G networks for mobile phones.</p>.<p>Additionally, Airtel and Qualcomm will collaborate for more use-cases including 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) that is designed to deliver broadband connectivity at Gigabit speeds to homes and businesses. </p>.<p>“Airtel has been a pioneer of new technologies and our networks are fully ready for 5G. We are delighted to have Qualcomm Technologies as a key technology provider in our journey to roll-out world-class 5G in India. With Airtel’s integrated service portfolio and Qualcomm Technologies’ 5G leadership, we will be well placed to usher India into the next era of hyper-fast and ultra-low latency digital connectivity,” said Randeep Sekhon, CTO, Bharti Airtel.</p>.<p>With 5G, people will be able to experience super-fast streaming and downloading big full-length movies in ultra HD in just seconds and 4K video streaming on the go across smartphones and computing devices.</p>.<p>It will also come in handy for streaming high-quality virtual reality 3D videos and also with ultra-fast and low latency of 5G, it will help control smart home aka Internet-of-Things gadgets, and also smart vehicles with semi auto-pilot features. </p>.<p>Airtel has revealed that the 5G service will commence soon after the completion of the spectrum auctions in the coming months.</p>.<p>Arch-rival, Reliance Jio has announced to bring super-fast wireless telecommunication service in India in the second half of 2021.
