'Villain' a no-show all the way

Villain, spelt Villan by its makers, is a vapid venture that makes you wonder at the wanton waste gone into its making. The film, with a done-to-death plot, lets down the viewers. And the lethargic way director Ramesh has gone about it doesn’t help either.

Villain revolves around a rowdy who seeks to reform when romance strikes. The hero (Auditya) walks through the entire film like a zombie, with deadpan expression. And if one manages to sit through the stifling show, it’s because of Ragini Dwivedi. The actress, despite being reduced to a glam doll, keeps you pepped up with her presence.
Surprisingly, it is Ragini who turns out to be the real hero, and Auditya — the villain, literally.

Of course, Ragini resorts to ample skin show in the songs, but she does a decent job of her tiny role as Anu, the RJ, who falls for Good Samaritan Ajay, without knowing he is in fact Tippu, the local tyrant. An orphan, Tippu is the sultan of all slums he surveys, and works for corrupt politician Rajanna. What is shocking is that Rajanna and Tippu have their way right under the long arm of the law, Vikram Singh. How, despite his good intentions, Tippu turns a villain in Anu’s eyes forms the rest of the film.
Nothing works in Villain except Ragini.
