Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday accused the Congress party of making just a show of its love for the armed forces with an eye on polls and asked why did it not implement the one-rank-one-pension plan if it cared for them.

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said if his party comes to power in Punjab after the February 20 Assembly polls, photographs of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh will be put up in all government offices in the state.
He further said there will be no photograph of any politician in these offices.

In Uttarakhand, 727 nominations were found valid after the scrutiny of papers. A total of 750 candidates had filed their nomination papers for the 70-seat assembly polls. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is Monday and the date of polling is February 14.

Days ahead of assemblypollsin five states, the Supreme Court has agreed to consider listing for hearing a 2020 PIL for debarring persons — against whom charges have been framed in serious offences — from contesting elections.
The plea said that out of 539 winners of the Lok Sabha election in 2019, as many as 233 (43 per cent) declared criminal cases against themselves. It said there was an increase of 109 per cent in the number of MPs with declared serious criminal cases since 2009, with one MP declaring 204 criminal cases against himself.
