2 burglars killed in clash with villagers

Two alleged burglars were killed in a clash with villagers in Bhanvad taluka of the district, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday night in Morjar village, where the villagers were on a night patrol, following incidents of burglary over the past couple of weeks.

According to the police, the village patrol spotted five men armed with knives, swords, pipes and iron rods, who were attempting to sneak into the village.

This led to a fight, which resulted in death of two of the suspected burglars, while three others in the group were badly injured and later admitted to the district civil hospital, police said.

Besides, two villagers also sustained injuries and were being treated at the same hospital.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Anwar and Shabbir Sheikh, both of whom had number of cases of burglary and loot registered against them and were absconding for long, police said.

Further investigation is on, police added.
