Four Congress ministers in the Omar Abdullah government and seven former ministers, three of them sitting MLAs, are in the net of State Accountability Commission in connection with allegations of corruption.
Cases against four sitting ministers and six former ministers are pending for probe before SAC in the state, said chief minister Omar Abdullah in the state Assembly on Thursday.
Nine cases have been registered against them and 98 officers, including some IAS
officers and chief engineers, he said in a written reply to a question of M Y Tarigami (CPM).
The ministers against whom cases are pending are Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed (floriculture), Taj Mohi-ud-din (sports and health education), Abdul Majid Wani (roads and buildings) and Manohar Lal Sharma (fisheries and cooperatives).
Of the former ministers three are from Congress, including former deputy chief minister Mangat Ram Sharma, two from Peoples Democratic Front and one each from
National Conference and PDP.
BJP MLAs stage protest
BJP MLAs continued their protest outside the J&K state legislature for the fourth day on Thursday demanding dismissal of the government and imposition of President’s rule, claiming that the NC-Congress government’s policies were putting at risk the security of the state.
Carrying placards bearing anti-government slogans, party MLAs led by leader of the BJP legislative party, Ashok Khajuria, sat on dharna at the entrance of the state legislature.
“We are staging dharna the fourth day to protest against the failure of Omar Abdullah government on all fronts, particularly security. We demand end of the discrimination to Jammu and Ladakh regions, providing security to panches and sarpanches and bringing back Gilgit-Baltistan in Indian domain,” Khajuria said.
BJP MLAs demanded dismissal of the government and imposition of President’s rule in the state.
