The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday sent a legal notice to Delhi BJP for its ‘false and defamatory’ campaign about the party’s funding.

“The AAP is giving BJP seven days’ time to tender a public apology, failing which, the party will file a case of criminal defamation against the leaders of its Delhi unit named in the legal notice,” the party in a statement said.

The notice sent to South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri and Delhi BJP spokesperson Ashwini Upadhyay on behalf of AAP general secretary Pankaj Gupta, has asked the duo to respond within seven days.

Early this month, Bidhuri in a press conference had alleged that the AAP was diverting funds from NGOs of its leaders. He had also asked the AAP to reveal the names of all the persons who had attended the party’s fundraising dinner.

Upadhyay has also been questioning party’s alleged foreign funding.

“The BJP has been resorting to systematic lies against the AAP despite the fact that its own central government informed the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that it has found nothing objectionable about the AAP funding,” the party in the statement added.
