Delhi Police have arrested an inter-state gangster-turned-property dealer, who was absconding ever since he along with his two brothers allegedly killed another property dealer over a dispute at Palam village last year.
Pramod Kumar, 31, of Dwarka sector 7 was wanted for the murder of Balwan Solanki alias Palle, said Anil Kumar Ojha, additional commissioner of police (south west).
Balwan was shot at by three car-borne assailants when he was strolling after dinner at Palam village on September 9, 2011. He was rushed to Mata Chanan Devi Hospital in Janakpuri, where he succumbed to to his injuries.
The assailants were later identified as Pramod and his two brothers Manoj and Vinod. Acting on specific information, police had arrested Vinod days after the incident.
“A massive manhunt was then launched to nab Pramod and Manoj, but they had managed to avoid our dragnet. In May, they were also declared proclaimed offenders by Dwarka Court,” Ojha said.
“Sources were activated, help of technical surveillance was also sought, but no worthwhile information was found. The efforts bore fruit on June 8, when Pramod was nabbed over a tip-off from Kanganheri village in Chhawla,” he added.
Pramod told police that his family members and Balwan had claimed a piece of gram sabha land in Palam village.
Pramod’s family members then in association with another gangster of Palam village, Binder Pahalwan, took possession of the land and divided the land equally between them and deprived Balwan of possession of this land.
Balwan became enraged and assaulted Pramod and Vinod. He also pressurised Vinod for an out of court settlement.
“The three brothers then decided to eliminate Balwan to get rid of him,” Ojha said.
