All venue in Shillong now 'Games-ready'

 All venues in this hill city are 'ready' for the 12th South Asian Games, the Games' Shillong leg CEO R K Sharma today said.

Around 200 athletes and officials have arrived till date with a similar number expected to check in tomorrow and Friday in their respective hotels.

"All the venues in Shillong are games-ready and some athletes have already seen practising like the Indian archery and women's football teams," Sharma told PTI at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex.

He said players' and officials' accommodation has already been arranged along with transport arrangement.

While stating that medical facilities are also put in place as and when needed, the CEO informed that tight security have been arranged in and around all the venues in the city.

He said, "security has always remained an area of concern and the authorities are alert throughout.”

Sharma also remarked on the 700 plus volunteers who will be assisting in the smooth conduct of the different disciplines here.

A total of seven sporting disciplines which includes archery, boxing, wushu, tae-kwondo, table tennis, women football and badminton will be played here while Assam will get to host 13 other disciplines.
