The BJP on Monday released its poll manifesto, which was critical of the UPA’s style of governance, but intended to carry forward some of their schemes, such as right to food, right to education and rural job schemes with minor alterations.
Also, for the first time, a manifesto talks about conservation of Himalayas as it has given the country its shape, water system, climate and culture.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Dr Rajendra Prasad Gupta, the economist who scripted the manifesto, said: “It was quite different from the 2009 experience given that things have become more complicated for the country. Now it requires more interaction with stakeholders and the common man, and hard work”.
The party allowed only Joshi to respond to queries though some of them were directed at Modi as well. On the reported differences over inclusion of the temple issue, Joshi said, “Whatever is there is there in the manifesto. If you want to write something on the basis of your own perceptions, you are free to do.”
The party has also not given up on its other core issue of abrogating Article 370 of the Constitution which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
