Elderly held for raping two minors

A 60-year-old man was arrested from west Delhi’s Rajouri Garden for raping two 10-year-old girls living in his neighbourhood for the past two months, police said.

The accused Surender, who has a small business, was arrested from his house on Saturday after the parents of the girls approached police and narrated the incident.

Investigators said Surender was victims’ neighbour, and he had become friends with them.
Class 5 students


He raped both the girls, who study in class 5 in two different government schools in Subhash Nagar in Rajouri Garden, and threatened them of dire consequences if they revealed it to anyone.

Then for almost two months, he regularly subjected them to rape and unnatural sex.
A few days ago, he shifted to another building in the same neighbourhood.

Exploited them

He again started calling the girls to his new place and exploited them sexually.

Two days ago, one of the victims’ parents questioned her about being late, she told her mother about the matter, following which, the parents approached Rajouri Garden police station to lodge a complaint against Surender.

A police officer said the victim was taken to Deen Dyal Updhyay Hospital, where rape was confirmed in the medical report.

A case was filed under sections 376 (rape) and 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
