A man has been arrested for manufacturing and selling fake beauty care products in the city, police said on Monday.

Satish Kumar, 38, was arrested after a raid was conducted by economic offence wing of Delhi at his house in Sadar Bazar of central Delhi last week, police said. Police have seized duplicate products that were being stored and sold under the brand name of Hindustan Unilever Ltd worth several lakhs of rupees.

Kumar was held after Rakesh Verma, representative of Hindustan Unilever Ltd who works for Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights, registered a police complaint with the economic offence wing on July 17 stating that fake products were being circulated in the markets of Delhi. “It has been learnt by Hindustan Unilever Ltd that some unknown persons are infringing the trademarks and copyrights owned by the company.

These persons are engaged in the business of manufacturing, making, distributing and marketing and selling the counterfeit products,” Verma told in the complaint.    Satish Kumar told police that he was doing this illegal business for last few years. “He was manufacturing and distributing the counterfeit products for last several years,” police said.
