Deputy Commissioner M K Srirangaiah said that all the flex, banners and buntings of various political parties in public places will be cleared in the backdrop of assembly election announced by the Election Commission.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he said that the model code of conduct has come into force with the immediate effect. Teams have been asked to check the poll violations. Measures will be taken to clear flex, banners and buntings installed on private buildings as well. A total of 29 teams have been formed to monitor violation of the model code of conduct. As many as 21 check posts have been opened.
He said that the tahsildars have been directed to take over all the guest houses of various departments and inspection bungalows. The elected representatives have been directed not to hold any meetings in inspection bungalows.
The district has 9,12,967 voters. During 2013, there were 8,01,580 voters. The number of voters has been increased by 14% in the district. There are 59 transgender voters in the district. As many as 7,381 persons with differently-abled voters in the district. The polling booths have been provided with ramps and wheelchairs to help the differently-abled persons.
The DC said that there are 1,170 polling booths in the district. As many as 9,121 have a license to possess firearms. All those who possess firearms should deposit them in the nearest police stations.
