Four persons of a family were killed on the spot, while two others sustained injuries after their car hit a bridge near Kurugodu in Ballari district on Friday morning.
The deceased are Dr Santosh (36), Dr Archana (34), Lakshmi (6) and Siddaramappa (60), all resident of Chakalapur village in Bhalki taluk in Bidar district.
The injured have been identified as Leelavathi (55) and Tanush (3).
They have been shifted to Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences in Ballari.
According to the police, the accident occurred when they were going to Bengaluru from Chakalapur.
The car hit the bridge after it approached Bhagyanagar on Bidar Srirangapatna highway, added the police.
Two killed in Channapatna
In a separate accident in Channapatna in Ramanagar district, two people, including a student, were killed, while over 10 passengers were injured after a private bus in which they were travelling toppled.
The deceased have been identified as Shashidhar (14) and Dayanand (38).
Shashidhar was going to Bengaluru for admission at a school.
According to the police, the bus was moving from Kundapur to Bengaluru. There were 21 passengers in the bus.
The injured have been shifted to BGS Hospital, Bellur.
