A major fire broke out in a shoe factory at Narela in north Delhi in the small hours of Friday, police said.

More than 20 workers were inside the factory’s multi-storey building when the blaze broke out. Fire officials reached the spot and rescued all of them.

“We received a call around 12:10 am,” said a Delhi Fire Service official. “Twenty-three fire tenders were rushed to the spot, which took around seven hours to douse the fire completely,” said the official.

No casuality was reported. However, leather and other material worth Rs 5 lakh was gutted in the blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, police said.
