Alleging that the JD(U) ticket to contest in Assembly elections is being issued to those who give money, State Youth JD(U) general secretary Vinod Jadhav and others have decided to resign from the party.

"State JD(U) president Mahima Patel and State Youth JD(U) president K V Shivaram asked me money to give me the ticket to contest from Nargund constituency. Ticket aspirants were asked to give Rs 25,000 for the ticket and Rs five lakh for the party fund," he charged.

Loyal workers of the party are neglected, and those who gave money are included in the first list of candidates. Principles of Jayaprakash Narayan, Ram Manohar Lohia, and Ramakrishna Hegde are forgotten in the selection of candidates, Jadhav said.

"Along with me, JD(U) Dharwad district convener Narayan Dhongadi, Youth JD(U) leader Vasuredy Hebbal of Nargund and Madhusudhan of Ballari are also quitting the JD(U) (Nitish Kumar faction). I am thinking about contesting as an independent candidate from Nargund constituency while Narayan Dhongadi may contest as an independent from Hubballi-Dharwad Central constituency," he said, adding that joining another party would also be given a thought.
