Riot-torn Kasganj town in Uttar Pradesh witnessed stray incidents of violence on Sunday.
The administration recovered weapons during search operations and intensified patrolling in the affected areas.
According to police here, a foreign made pistol and bombs were recovered from the house of the main accused in the killing of ABVP member Chandan Gupta during clashes on Republic Day.
The accused, identified as Javed is absconding.
At least two shops were torched in fresh violence in the town on Sunday, sources said, adding that the police stepped up patrolling and had also been using drones.
So far, 80 people have been arrested in connection with the violence.
The administration has planned to slap National Security Act (NSA) on the rioters, sources said.
Internet services in the entire Kasganj district have been suspended and even the daily newspapers were not allowed to be distributed by the security personnel on Sunday.
Meetings of peace committees were organised on Sunday to defuse the tension.
Newly appointed Uttar Pradesh police chief O P Singh said here on Sunday that the situation was "peaceful" and that the cops had been directed to take stern action against the rioters.
One person was killed and around a dozen others, including policemen, injured in communal clashes in the town, about 300 km from here, during a motorbike rally by ABVP and VHP members on Republic Day.
