Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday ordered a magisterial probe into the alleged gang-rape of an African in a moving car in east Delhi.

While claiming to adopt a policy of zero tolerance on crimes against women, Kejriwal has directed the Home Department to institute an inquiry to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crime in the early hours on Friday.

“The state government has also decided to seek a report from Delhi Police on the incident and the magisterial inquiry will also look into the measures taken by Delhi Police and other concerned authorities, including those of the Delhi government for the prevention of heinous crimes against women in the capital,” the government in a press statement said.

“The Delhi government wants the inquiry to cover all aspects, including the state of night patrolling and whether window panes of the car in which the crime was committed adhered to legal visibility norms,” the statement added.
