A hoax bomb call gave anxious moments to passengers as well as the security personnel at Chandni Chowk metro station on Monday.

The metro station was sanitised by security personnel and was opened only after the entire search operation, which lasted close to an hour, was over.

“We were informed about the call around 5:40 pm. By 5:55 pm, all the gates at the station were closed after evacuating all passengers from one of the gates. The dog squad was pressed into service and search operation was conducted in the entire station premises– the underground stretch, ground level and the station surroundings,” said Nishant Sankale, PRO, CISF.

He further added that while nobody was allowed to board or de-board trains at Chandni Chowk, the train operations on the Yellow Line (Jhangirpuri- HUDA City Centre) remained normal.

Meanwhile, Delhi police officials said, “The number has been identified, but the caller has switched off his cellphone. We will investigate into the matter further,” said Additional DCP (Railways), Bhairon Singh Gujjar.
