The Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), a body set up by the Planning Commission, has trained a large number of minority youths in Rajasthan.
It also held placement camps at Yagyavalkya Institute of Technology, Sitapura Industrial Area, Jaipur.
At least 250 candidates from construction-related trades were interviewed for selection by 30 companies, which included ARG Group, Trimurty Colonisers and Developers, Rishabh Construction, R D Gupta Constructions and John’s Electric Company.
N Thyagaraju, general manager and placement in-charge, CIDC, said based on feedback from the companies, 175 candidates may be given jobs.
S P Goyal, former president of the Builders’ Association of India, Rajasthan chapter, also participated in the interviews and selection of candidates. The council has planned
two more meetings in Rajasthan, on February 15 at Kota and February 25 at Sawai
Madhopur.
The council also signed an MoU with the state department of minority affairs to train unemployed youths from minority communities. The Rajasthan Minority Livelihood Programme began training youths in September last year at various centres in the state. At least 1,000 youths have been trained so far.
CIDC director-general P R Swarup said there will be placement facilities after every training session. The CIDC has got “encouraging response” from target groups for enrolment in placement camps.
Swarup said more initiatives for employment-oriented training in the state are on the cards. “These programmes will make a profound impact on the socio-economic conditions of youths from marginalised sections of society,” said Swarup.
Recently, candidates trained by CIDC were given certificates by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Union ministers Kamal Nath and Vilas Rao Deshmukh in New Delhi.
