District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai said he will abide by the directions of AICC president Rahul Gandhi and will work towards the victory of the party candidate in Mulki-Moodbidri.
Addressing reporters at the District Congress Committee office at Mallikatta here on Thursday, he said that though he was disappointed for some time because he was denied a ticket to contest from Mulki-Moodbidri constituency, he was convinced of his role in the party after speaking to the AICC chief in Delhi. He will work for the victory of Congress and will campaign for the victory of the selected candidate, K Abhayachandra Jain in Moodbidri.
“I had not applied for the ticket. But, the leaders from the Youth Congress Committee wanted me to contest. I am sorry that my followers and members of Youth Congress are disappointed. Some of them even tendered their resignations. But, the Congress committee has not accepted their resignations and I have convinced them not to leave the party. I am confident that they will stand by me,” he said
Mithun, meanwhile said that he is not an aspirant for MP ticket in the next general elections as well. He will not be worried about loss of the ticket anymore as he is confident of getting better opportunities, as promised by the High Command. He will live up to the faith reposed on him , he said.
