Narendra Modi on Friday once again targeted Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav for the latter's sexist remarks on the death penalty for rapists.

“Where Mulayam needs to be soft, he becomes hard and where he should be hard he becomes soft,” said Modi, the BJP’s PM nominee, while addressing election rallies at Etawah, Mulayam's home district. Modi referred to the alleged ‘apathy’ of the UP government towards riot victims living in relief camps in Muzaffarnagar and elsewhere and said that Mulayam did not show his softness toward them.

The saffron leader also continued targeting Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, calling him ‘shehzada’ or prince. “The shehzada, who was born with a silver spoon, does not know anything about poverty,” he said.

“For shehzada, poverty is nothing but a kind of tourism... he goes to the villages and gets himself photographed with kids in his lap,” Modi remarked.
