Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a  new metro line of the Delhi Metro, that will reduce the travel time between Noida and south Delhi, on Monday.

This will be the third metro line to be inaugurated by the prime  minister this year. He had earlier dedicated the Kochi Metro to the nation in June, and the Hyderabad Metro in November. Like  previous occasions, Modi will travel on a stretch of this new line.

The new Magenta Line will connect Botanical Garden in Noida ( Uttar Pradesh) with Kalkaji Mandir in south Delhi.

The 12.64-km section will significantly reduce travel time between Noida and south Delhi. This stretch is part of the Botanical Garden (Noida)-Janakpuri West (Delhi) corridor.

However, the Delhi government is upset over Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal not being invited for the function.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, however, has received an invitation the same.

Officials in the urban  development ministry said since the launch will be held at Botanical Garden (Noida) in Uttar Pradesh therefore only  Adityanath's name was printed on the invitation card.

In 2015, too, Kejriwal's name was not printed  on invitation card for the launch of an extended line between Faridabad-Badarpur.

In this route, metro rail authorities want to introduce driverless train. However, initially there will be a driver  on the train and it will be made driverless in a phased manner.

Recently, a metro train of the Magenta Line crashed into a wall at Kalindi Kunj depot after it rolled back on a ramp while being taken for washing.

There were no casualties, according to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which had blamed the incident on "human error and negligence" during maintenance.
