The Supreme Court banned the practice of triple talaq with a 3:2 majority, bringing in a rush of relief to Muslim women who had been subject to the practice for years and was hailed as a significant step in gender equality.

Not one to let go of the opportunity to thank the SC for the verdict, Mohammad Kafi took to twitter, hailing the decision. In the tweet, Kaif said that the decision to declare triple talaq unconstitutional was 'welcome' and would help Muslim women earn security and help gender equality.

As is the case when any famous personality puts forth their opinion on a matter, trolls descended on the cricketer's handle and tweet, with largely mixed responses to the tweet.
