The third phase of polls in Maharashtra, scheduled on April 24, started on Friday with Aam Aadmi Party’s state leader Anjali Damani holding a rally here in Mumbai.

Damania along with her party’s top notch leaders will travel to all the 19 constituencies going to poll next week. On Sunday, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will land to hold a rally.

Giving details of Congress chief visit to Maharashtra, party spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that three major rallies have been organized for the phase-III which will be held in Nandurbar, Dhule and Mumbai.

These rallies will also witness participation of allies like Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar and Dalit parties who recently sworn its allegiance to the UPA.

On Monday, Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi,
who had already visited Mumbai several times in recent months, will address a rally in Mumbai again.

The Shiv Sena, which is still trying to come to grip with exodus of leaders from its fold and the ambiguity of its ally BJP, has decided to focus on Mumbai’s satellite towns by holding rallies in Thane district and Raigad region. He is expected to share a dais with Modi unlike in the past when the BJP in December did not even invite him for its ‘Mahagarjana Rally.’

The constituencies going to polls are Aurangabad, Bhiwandi, Dindori, Dhule, Jalgaon, Jalna, Kalyan, Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North-East, Mumbai North-Central, Mumbai South-Central, Mumbai South, Nandurban, Nashik, Palghar, Raver, Raigad and Thane.
