Terming a report factually incorrect, the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board on Friday stated that the floors at the night shelters are strong enough to hold the weight of over 50 persons.

The clarification from Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) came a day after, a report was published in a section of the press saying the floor of night shelters were wobbly and had developed cracks.

DUSIB said there is no scope of any crack to appear and some of the shelters and floors are being used by more than 60 persons.

‘No complaints’

“There is no complaint of cracks in the floor of any temporary structure of shelter home. On the contrary, the shelters are widely appreciated by the users and the NGOs involved in their maintenance & operation.

“None of the NGOs running these shelters has reported any complaint about any structural problems,” said a statement issued by DUSIB.
