In a bid to spruce up the functioning of the auto-tippers (small automatic vehicles used to carry garbage), the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided that the auto-tipper vehicles will bear the number of the respective ward and the phone number of the local councillor.
The decision was taken after receiving several complaints from the councillors that auto tipper do not show up at work regularly. “These details would be printed on all the vehicles. It will help keep a tab on the their movement,” said Subhash Arya, leader of house in the South Corporation. The SDMC also passed a resolution to hire over five hundred auto tipping vehicles so that they can collect garbage even in the narrow bylanes of south Delhi area.
