The Forest Department officials have failed to trace a tiger that has been creating panic among local people at Kottageri on Saturday.

The CCTV had captured the movement of the tiger in a coffee estate at Kottageri on Thursday night.

Based on the footage, the officials along with tamed elephants began an operation to track the tiger.

The services of tamed elephants Abhimanyu, Krishna, Drona, Bheema were used by the officials.

Tiger kills calf

A tiger on the prowl in Bekkesodloor situated five kilometres away from Kottageri has attacked and killed a calf causing apprehension among the local community.

The calf belongs to Tanacchira Rohini. The tiger has also injured a cow.

On hearing a sound from the cowshed, Rohini and other inmates of the house had rushed to the cowshed and saw a tiger. Hearing the commotion, the tiger fled inside the coffee estate.
