Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam on Wednesday met Governor Banwarilal Purohit and briefed him about protests on the Cauvery issue that have rocked the state in the past few days.
"The governor asked us about the situation prevailing in the state and the discussions with the governor also covered protests on Cauvery. We have briefed him about the protests and steps taken. Governor was satisfied with our answers," Palaniswami told reporters outside the Raj Bhawan here.
"The governor wanted some clarifications and we have given satisfying answers to him. Even on Cauvery issue, we have briefed him enough," he added.
Asked whether he was mulling on expanding or carrying out a reshuffle of his Cabinet and whether the issue figured in the talks with the governor, the chief minister replied in the negative.
The meeting assumes significance since it comes a day after Purohit returned from New Delhi, where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
