A Delhi Transport Corporation driver accidentally opened fire at central Delhi’s Indraprastha bus depot on Thursday. No one was injured in the firing and the driver fled from the spot, police said on Thursday.

The driver has been identified as Sunil, aged around 50, and a hunt is not to nab him.
“We have got his first name and we are trying to get his address so that he can be apprehended,” said a police officer.

The officer said they received a call that a firing took place around 12:10 pm at Indraprastha bus depot.

A police team went to the spot and learnt that Sunil had come to his office, on second floor room number 208, and was showing his colleagues a newly bought pistol.

“While showing the pistol, accidently it got fired and a bullet hit an almirah in the room. His colleagues were shocked and Sunil fled from the office,” said the officer.

Around four persons were in the room when the incident took place.

“We have recorded the statements of his colleagues who said Sunil was showing his pistol. Sunil reportedly told them that he has got the licence for carrying a pistol and accordingly he bought it,” said the officer, adding they are yet to verify if Sunil had got licence.

The investigative officer has requested DTC officials to provide the details of Sunil so that they can trace him and accordingly take action against him.
