It was a race against time as Lok Sabha poll candidates of the capital covered the last lap of campaigning which ended on Tuesday at 6 pm.

As canvassing ended, the candidates went into a huddle with booth-level workers for fine tuning preparations for the April 10 voting for the seven seats from the city.

BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu staged roadshow in favour of BJP’s Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha constituency candidate Dr Harsh Vardhan in Wazirpur, Kanhaiya Nagar, Keshavpuram and Bharat Nagar.

The Sikh community presented saropa to Harsh Vardhan and followers of other religions blessed both the leaders to be victorious.

In Sadar Assembly constituency, the Vaishya community accorded a grand welcome to Harsh Vardhan and resolved to make him victorious with record numbers of votes. His Congress rival Kapil Sibal and AAP challenger Ashutosh also toured the constituency extensively on the last day of campaign.

At almost the same time when AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal was slapped during a roadshow by an autorickshaw driver in North-West Delhi, the constituency's BJP candidate Udit Raj, a prominent Dalit leader, was also in the Sultanpuri area explaining voters about the new party’s failures.

His Congress rival and current MP Krishna Tirath, on the campaign’s last day, showcased the achievement of the UPA Government in her road show, and wooed voters with her party’s secular credentials.

In the New Delhi constituency, current MP and former Union minister Ajay Maken held corner meetings in the Delhi Cantonment and took out marches and meetings in Vasant Gaon, Hanuman Mandir, Gulmohar Park, Amar Colony and Vasant Colony.

The constituency is also witnessing a triangular fight, like most other seats.
